Hard To Please

Back in October last year I volunteered to create a website for a festival weekend in March and offered to host the site on one of my domains.

I put together something out of the very little information I was given, and have updated it as more info has dribbled down to me.

All I've had for my trouble is criticism and complaints and tonight I've finished completely overhauling all the pages with the updated content that was given to me earlier in the week.

So far I've invested over 50 hours of my time and quite frankly, have had a gut full. The content I got earlier in the week was a word document with how the organiser wanted the site to look, with all the event information, that I asked for 3 months ago.

I won't be so quick to put my hand up again.

Work Piling Up Around Me

I went back to work on Monday after having two weeks holiday and I still haven't managed to get on top of things. Not that there was much of a build-up waiting for me, just that it's been busy every day. We've had two to three new development applications every day: a big change from last month when there was hardly any.

We're also doing a rezoning application to the Department of Lands and my boss has given me lots of typing to do, along with maps to create to go with the application. I love the mapping but it's very time-consuming, so the work has been piling up around me.

The Junee Rhythm 'n Rail Festival is only 6 weeks away now and so it's panic stations for everyone involved, and they're putting the pressure on everyone else. That means me, because I built their website and update all the content. There's maps to produce for that too. Junee Council is doing quite a bit to help make the festival a success and so lots of effort is being devoted to it. There's road closures to organise and maps to produce for them as well to go to the Roads & Traffic Authority and Emergency Services.

I was disappointed to see that there's also a big weekend planned for the same date in Bathurst at Mount Panorama. Alex would love it: skateboards and BMX. I think we'll stay in Junee, though, to be part of the Guinness Book of Records attempt for the Largest Guitar Ensemble. We all own a guitar at home and can all strum a note, so we'll be there with our red shirts on.
