2008 Off To A Slow Start

Here it is already 9th January and I haven't put up a post yet. This doesn't bode well for the new year. I have read a couple of books though!!

I went back to work on 2nd January and it's been surprisingly busy, not at all what I expected. The days have been in the high 30s and by the time I get home all I want to do is lay down with a book in front of the air conditioner. It's been too hot for much else.

In my bedroom where the computer is, I only have a fan, which is blowing hot air around and it's just too uncomfortable. Tonight is a little cooler and I'm saying a quiet prayer for some rain. The nights are too hot to sleep and I'm waking up feeling like crap, annoyed that the kids are still snoozing on and I have to go to work.

The good news is that I've got two weeks off soon, another week and a half of work, and I can do a few things around here that need doing.

Christmas was great with lots of family and love flowing. Anthony came down from Queensland for a week and it was great to share Christmas with him. I hope he enjoyed his visit with us. On the 26th the kids and I are flying up to Queensland for a week and we'll stay a couple of nights with him, and 5 nights in a resort at Surfer's. Carly and Alex are getting really excited about flying, they've never been on a plane before and every day Alex is telling how many days before we leave.

In the meantime, though, I have the final assignment to do for my TAFE course. I've gathered lots of info and done plenty of reading: now I need to get it in to some sort of order to write a report on what I've learned. It's all about how household stormwater problems add to the urban salinity problem. Not a topic I would have chosen if it had been my choice.
