The Junee Under 12s won the Junior Rugby League grand final on Saturday but Alex had his appendix out on Thursday so he couldn't play. The boys won 26-10 against Temora at Cootamundra and although I offered to drive Alex over to watch, he wasn't up to it. Both Emily and Lauren and their families came over on Saturday afternoon to see how the patient was doing. Lauren has her Lerner's Permit and has been coming over quite often to log some hours. She has to get 50 hours up before she can go for her driver's licence, and it's a half-hour drive from Wagga. It will take a long time, but she's not the most confident driver so she's not worried about that.
Alex has a few days off school and this morning I went to work for an hour and caught up on a couple of things. I didn't go to work Thursday or Friday, but will have to go tomorrow. I went to the library today and borrowed some DVDs and then to the video shop and hired a couple more, so there's plenty here to keep Alex going while I'm at work. I think he'll be right to go back to school on Thursday.
His operation was a bit of a muck around. Initially doctors didn't think it was his appendix that was causing the stomach pain, but in the end they took it out and it turned out to be swollen. Everything else is okay and we were home within 24 hours of him having them out. Pretty quick.
We watched an excellent movie today called
The World's Fastest Indian with Anthony Hopkins. It was a true story about Burt Munro, who set a land speed record in 1967 on an old 1920 Indian motorcycle that still stands today. It was a really heart-warming movie and both Alex and I shed a tear or two. After that we watched two movies called Tales from the Neverending Story. After that Alex watched Godzilla, but by then I was all movied out, and needed to do something. Not a bad way to spend a day home from work though.
